History of Bandar Baru UDA

In 1971, the Urban Development Corporation (UDA) was officially launched by the Prime Minister, Tun Abdul Razak bin Hussein at the National Operations Room, Kuala Lumpur. UDA was established on 1 September 1971 under the Urban Development Corporation Act, Parliamentary Act No. 46 of 1971. One of the main purposes of the establishment of UDA is to develop and implement projects in urban development areas in the field of trade and enterprise, housing and others so that they can be distributed equally and fairly for all races. Apart from that, UDA is also responsible for conducting action programs to restructure the community through urban development.

At the inauguration, Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak also announced the members of this corporation with Datuk Yakub bin Hitam as its first chairman. On 1 September 1996 UDA was incorporated and known as UDA Holdings Sdn. Bhd. Indeed, the launch of the UDA, on this day in 1971, an early planning efforts of the government to modernize the Malays and Bumiputeras in urban areas, in addition to being a key driver of business success of the Second Malaysia Plan and the New Economic Policy.

Bandar Baru UDA is a suburb in Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia developed in the 1990s era. The development of this area consists of four phases where the township has developed well and strategically in the heart of Johor Bahru City and transportation. The main population of this city is Malay. A large number of those who stay at home and the terrace is a professional high-Malay middle class. However, there is a wealthy minority of people living in the bungalow area, as well as the lower middle class of the population living in flats.

Bandar Baru UDA has two primary schools (Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Uda (2) and Sekolah Kebangsaan Kompleks Uda) as well as secondary schools, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bandar Baru UDA.

Bandar Baru UDA also has a famous supermarket in Johor Bahru and Singapore, namely Plaza Angsana which was built in 1995-1996, now better known as Angsana Mall Johor Bahru.
